Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice on his landmark appearance as Al Nassr rebounded to a 5-2 victory against Al Najmah to increase their lead at the top of the Roshn Saudi League.

Making his 100th appearance in the competition, the returning Al Nassr captain proved integral to the league leaders extending their winning run to 13 matches, equalling the club’s longest streak set in 2014.

Ronaldo’s double, which took the contest at Al Awwal Park from 2-2 to 4-2, helped Al Nassr stretch their advantage at the summit to six points, although second-placed Al Hilal host Al Taawoun on Saturday while Al Ahli, in third, welcome Damac to Alinma Stadium in Jeddah.

Ronaldo, who missed the two most recent RSL rounds through injury, remains third in the 2025-26 scoring charts, but has climbed to 23 for the season - one back from Al Qadsiah’s Julian Quinones and two behind Al Ahli frontman Ivan Toney.

Ronaldo, who now has 97 RSL goals and 967 in total in his career, has won the golden boot the past two seasons.

Posting on social media afterwards, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner said: "It’s good to be back. We move forward together!"

However, on Friday night in Riyadh, it was bottom club Al Najmah who took a shock lead when, on 44 minutes, Rakan Al Tulayhi finished off a visitors’ counter-attack.

To their credit, Al Nassr responded almost immediately, Abdullah Al Hamdan equalising in the eighth minute of stoppage-time before Sadio Mane scored a brilliant solo effort for the hosts to go into half-time 2-1 up.

Still, Al Najmah levelled right at the beginning of the second half through Felipe Cardoso, before Ronaldo took over. Not long from the hour, the Portugal international converted from the spot; then, on 73 minutes, he added his second by slamming home from close range after a pass from substitute Nawaf Boushal.

In the end, it was left to Mane to complete the scoring deep into stoppage-time, and Ronaldo to conclude the evening with another Man of the Match award.
