FC Barcelona have invested significant effort in recent seasons to identify young talents in the transfer market, aiming to develop them into future stars. Ronald Araujo is a prime example of this strategy, while Pedri also belongs to the same category.

Now, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, negotiations have reopened, and Barcelona are actively working with Al Ahly to finalize the deal. An agreement with the player was reached weeks ago, but the transfer still requires approval from the Egyptian club.

A traditional, old-school striker, the Egyptian looks a very smart acquisition. He could play for the reserve team while remaining in the first-team picture, with Hansi Flick keeping close track of his development.

Barcelona need to sign a striker this summer, with Robert Lewandowski expected to leave the club. The Pole is 37 and appears to be on his last legs, as he looks to wrap up his career with as much silverware as possible.

While Abdelkarim cannot be expected to take over the mantle from Lewandowski immediately, if he impresses, he could give Barcelona the flexibility to go in multiple directions in their pursuit of a new striker.

The presence of Ferran Torres provides some cushion in this regard. It remains to be seen whether Deco can reach an agreement with Al Ahly to sign the Egyptian in the coming days.
