Despite earning her first senior call-up for England, Taylor Hinds hasn’t yet decided on her International allegiance with Jamaica also on the cards.
That is according to Jamaica boss Hubert Busby Jr who believes he can still convince Hinds to join the Jamaica setup.
Sarina Wiegman has rewarded Taylor Hinds with her first senior call-up to the England squad, but that doesn’t mean the defender will stick with the Lionesses.
With England playing two international friendlies in the upcoming break Hinds can still change her allegiance.
The Arsenal full-back has already represented Jamaica’s senior team after playing in a friendly against France in October of last year.
Speaking this week ahead of the international break, Hubert Busby Jr insisted that Hinds could still decide to play for Jamaica on the international stage.
“I think she’s actually alluded to that.” Busby explained. “Her future is up in the air and she hasn’t made a final decision yet. We respect that. We’ve had numerous conversations and communications up to yesterday, and we respect her decision at this time.”
It will of course be a difficult decision for Hinds to make but it is one that she will have to make before next year’s Nations League returns. Hinds can choose either Jamaica or England up until her first competitive appearance when he can no longer switch.
England would be the obvious choice for Hinds but with significantly more competition in her position, her spot with the Lionesses is anything but a guarantee.
Should she chose Jamaica, the full-back would no doubt be the number one choice for her nation at left back.
England’s two upcoming international games are sure to play a huge part in Hinds’ decision.
The Lionesses are facing off against Brazil and Australia as part of their Euro 2025 homecoming tour and there will be plenty of Jamaican fans keeping an eye on Hinds’ minutes for the team.
Hinds will no doubt be competing with Manchester City’s Alex Greenwood in the left back position and although she will be hard to replace in the team, the 32-year-old only has so long left in the England setup.
The upcoming October friendlies represent a huge opportunity for Hinds to assert herself as England’s future full-back but if she can’t do that, it would be no surprise if the Arsenal player switched allegiance to Jamaica.
