Real Valladolid’s bleak trip to the Reino de León worsened as Tenés sustained a serious knee injury during the defeat.

The club said in a statement that the Valencia loanee has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require surgery, adding that his recovery timetable will depend on how he progresses.

Medically, it appears impossible he will play again this season, as recoveries typically start at nine months.

Tenés had returned to the starting XI after being benched against Cádiz, and in a harmless-looking clash with Ojeda he jumped and landed awkwardly, his knee twisting unnaturally. His tears on the pitch hinted at the extent of the damage.

It is not the first major knee setback for Valladolid this season, with Guille Bueno already in a long rehabilitation for a similar injury and other players also undergoing operations for lesser issues. In wide areas, Amath could return against Eibar after missing the León squad.
