Football is a funny old game where context matters so much. A draw can feel like a win or a loss, and there’s no doubt that yesterday’s late equaliser against Man City was a great moment for Chelsea fans who had endured a tough week.

We can only imagine what it’s been like for the players, and speaking to the club’s official website, Trevoh Chalobah had some interesting comments about how the group had rallied around and dug deep in a game they were expected to lose heavily:
“I’m really proud of the boys. We spoke about our spirit, and we knew that’s what was needed today,” Chalobah said to the club’s official website.
The defender played a key role in keeping Erling Haaland quiet, and can be really pleased with just how much his game has come on this season. He made 7 clearances, 3 recoveries and 2 blocks as the Blues dug deep. They did enough to keep it to a one goal difference, despite some periods where City really dominated, and by doing that they kept themselves in a position to nick a point with one special moment, which finally came in the 95th minute when Malo Gusto burst down the right and played a cross into the box.

Andrey Santos was praised by Calum McFarlane for his impact yesterday, and no matter who comes in as the new coach, the Brazilian looks likely to be one of the big beneficiaries.
The interim coach explained more about Santos’ introduction at the break and the change of shape which helped Chelsea win the game in his post match presser.
