FLW has looked at the many players set to be absent from the upcoming clash at St Mary's
Southampton and Norwich City are currently two of the Championship's form sides, and both are set to face off in a mouth-watering clash at St Mary's on Wednesday night.
This particular encounter was originally scheduled for March 7th, but had been rescheduled due to Saints' and Norwich's progression in the FA Cup, having both endured mixed results over the aforementioned weekend in the fifth round.
Tonda Eckert's side will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to a 13th match and close the gap on the play-off places even further with victory, whilst also avenging a 2-1 defeat against the Canaries at Carrow Road on December 13th.
City's revival under Philippe Clement has been well-documented, with the Yellows now into the top half on 51 points with nine matches to go.
However, both head coaches look set to be without the services of several key performers for this midweek game, and Football League World has looked at each one of the 18 players who fall into said bracket.

Alex McCarthy has only played seven times for Saints this term, and has been omitted from the last six matchday squads in the Championship after undergoing wrist surgery last month.
Although it would take extraordinary circumstances for the veteran to displace Daniel Peretz as Eckert's first-choice goalkeeper right now, it remains to be seen when he may return to Eckert's 20-man squad.

Mads Roerslev had been playing with a persistent achilles injury for Saints since November, and has been out of action since Eckert's full-time appointment the following month.
The former Brentford man is out for the season after undergoing surgery on the issue, but the German is hopeful his recovery will see him return in good shape to feature regularly again.

Left-back, Welington, has also had a stop-start beginning to his Saints career, having missed the past seven matches in all competitions.
It was revealed the Brazilian had sustained a muscle injury, and that he would miss at least two weeks, which began against Charlton Athletic on February 21st.
However, his recent absence continued on Saturday for the crucial 2-1 away win at league-leading Coventry City.
The highly-rated Jay Robinson hasn't kicked a ball since January 23rd, with Eckert recently revealing that the 19-year-old was moving closer to returning after a wrist injury.
However, his own absence continued against the Sky Blues on Saturday, meaning some will be extremely sceptical of his chances of making the upcoming clash with Norwich given the quick turnaround.

The first of 14 absentees for Clement is goalkeeper, Daniel Grimshaw.
The 28-year-old collided with Ruari McConville during City's 3-0 defeat to Leeds United in the FA Cup before being replaced in the 46th minute after sustaining a calf issue, and it is expected to continue keeping him sidelined for this game.

McConville also picked up a knee injury in the aforementioned collision, and has also missed the recent clashes with Sheffield United and Preston North End as a result.
Prior to the 2-0 win over the Lilywhites, Clement said of the Northern Irishman's injury: "I don’t think it’s going to be long term, but he was not available today, probably not for the weekend, and we will assess further. I’m not one to take risks with those things."

Experienced defender Shane Duffy hasn't played for Norwich since Clement's third game in charge against Queens Park Rangers on November 29th after suffering a hamstring problem.
With his absence now surpassing the three-and-a-half month mark, it is likely that the 34-year-old will play no part in proceedings against Saints on Wednesday.

Harry Amass only played 15 minutes for the Yellows against Coventry on his debut back in January, before sustaining a serious hamstring issue in training.
However, there is hope that the Manchester United loanee could feature in the final weeks of the campaign after returning to his parent club to review the injury further.

Fellow left-back, Lucien Mahovo, has also been out of action since the turn of the year with a muscular injury.
Prior to Amass' arrival, Clement confirmed that the 20-year-old would be out for the long-term, with it remaining to be seen if he will return to fitness before the end of the campaign.

One man who will play no part in Norwich's late play-off run is Mirko Topic.
The summer signing from Familicao suffered a serious ACL injury against Oxford United on November 25th in what was Clement's first match at Carrow Road.

Gabriel Forsyth has been sidelined since November 2024 and is still undergoing a strict rehabilitation plan to return to full fitness.
No return date has been set as to when the highly-rated Scottish midfielder will return after an extremely luckless period which now spans over 15 months.

Jeffrey Schlupp also remains a long-term absentee after suffering a hamstring injury back on November 5th against Sheffield Wednesday.
As a result, it remains to be seen whether the experienced figure will be available to Clement in the final weeks of the season, having been sidelined throughout his tenure to-date.

Matej Jurasek is currently recovering from a bone injury related to the foot, which was picked up in the 3-0 away win at Oxford last month.
As a result, the midfielder, who was sidelined with a hernia issue last year, is in the midst of a recovery which had been given an initial timespan of eight to 10 weeks.

Oscar Schwartau is currently stepping up his recovery from a hamstring injury, which was sustained in their FA Cup success over West Bromwich Albion at Carrow Road.
The Dane has missed the last five Championship fixtures, but could be back in contention to feature against Portsmouth on Good Friday if Clement's latest admission goes according to plan.

Papa Diallo is yet another member of the Norwich ranks to be sidelined, this time with a thigh problem after also being out long-term earlier in the campaign.
The Senegalese winger sustained the knock in the warm-up against Blackburn Rovers on February 7th, but Clement did reveal that there is hope he can return before the season's end through the consultation of a specialist.

Mohamed Toure had made a blistering start to his City career with four goals in four games after joining from Randers on February 1st.
However, the Australian suffered a groin issue in the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday last month.
But, there is hope, again, that the 21-year-old can return to action the other side of the campaign's final international break.
"I expect Oscar (Schwartau) and Mo back after the international window, to be in a squad. Any earlier would be a surprise," said Clement.

Another man who will not don the yellow and green for the remainder of the campaign is Ante Crnac.
The Croatian is still in recovery after sustaining a serious ACL injury against Derby County way back in October, during Liam Manning's ill-fated reign as City boss.

The last man on Norwich's endless injury list is top scorer and 10-goal man, Jovon Makama.
expected to be without their highly-rated striker for the remainder of the season.
