Football League World looks at the five players who will miss out on the action as Norwich City host Luton Town on Saturday
Norwich City host Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, and the Canaries will be looking to achieve the feat of back-to-back wins for the first time since September, following their emphatic 6-1 triumph over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.
A victory for Johannes Hoff Thorup's men this weekend would put them right in play-off contention, ahead of a congested December fixture list.
On the other hand, the Hatters have not adjusted well to life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last term, and sit just three points above the relegation zone.
Rob Edwards' side have yielded two wins from their last five games, as well as a 1-1 draw with top-six hopefuls West Bromwich Albion, but a 5-1 hammering at Middlesbrough earlier this month, as well as Wednesday night's 3-0 defeat at Leeds United demonstrate their defensive frailties.
It could be argued that the Hatters, who have conceded a whopping 29 goals in 17 second tier fixtures so far, are likely to struggle against a Canaries side who have scored eight goals in their last two games.
Ahead of a fixture which could have ramifications for both this season's play-off race, and the battle for Championship survival, Football League World takes a look at the five players who are set to miss out on the action:
Canaries boss Thorup has confirmed that midfielder Liam Gibbs will face up to 10 weeks on the sidelines, after suffering a recurrence of a previous hamstring injury during his side's heavy win over Plymouth on Tuesday.
Gabriel Forsyth has not featured for the Norfolk outfit since sustaining a knee injury during his side's visit to Cardiff City earlier this month, when Thorup revealed that the 18-year-old did not require surgery, but would be out for over a month.
Such an injury blow was non-ideal for the Scottish starlet, who made his senior debut for the Carrow Road side as a late substitute on the opening day of the Championship season, and has subsequently gone on to make a further four outings in the league, including two starts.
Canaries hotshot Josh Sargent will be out of action until 2025, as he requires surgery following a groin injury, while his last appearance came back in October.
While Thorup and co are undoubtedly enjoying the services of Championship top scorer Borja Sainz, Sargent's current absence has certainly hindered their top-six push.
Alfie Doughty is one of two absentees for the Hatters, and has not appeared for the Bedfordshire outfit since suffering an ankle injury during his side's 1-0 triumph over Cardiff at the beginning of the month.
Last term, the wing-back produced a highly respectable return of two goals and eight assists in 37 Premier League appearances, while this campaign he has already managed four assists in 13 Championship outings, while Edwards will miss both the 24-year-old's attacking and defensive attributes.
Hatters boss Rob Edwards revealed last month that young defender Reuell Walters will be out for a significant period of time, after he broke his foot during a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United last month.
