Eight players are set to miss the Coventry City vs Ipswich Town game on Monday
There are eight players who are in doubt for Coventry City's home fixture against Ipswich Town on Monday evening, including the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Bobby Thomas, and Sammie Szmodics.
As the halfway point of the 2025/26 EFL Championship campaign is reached, there is little to complain about if you are a Coventry City fan.
The Sky Blues seemingly have one foot in the Premier League, after collecting an impressive 51 points from their opening 23 games, led by former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard, they sit eight points clear at the top of the table.
Ipswich Town, however, having suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, have not had the season that many were expecting them to.
The Tractor Boys do occupy 3rd place, five points off 2nd place Middlesbrough and 13 points off Monday's opponents, Coventry, with Kieran McKenna's side not having hit the heights expected of them as yet.
Ipswich ran out as 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture less than a month ago, and as they travel to the CBS Arena, they will be hoping for a similar scoreline in their favour.
Both sides are nursing injuries coming into this one, with at least eight players expected to miss out, including some big players for both sides.

Thomas-Asante has taken his game to the next level this season after his switch to Coventry from West Brom in the summer of 2024, having scored ten and assisted 3 in the Championship this season.
However, having picked up a hamstring injury against Middlesbrough in late November, he's expected to be out until the new year, ruling him out of this fixture, as Lampard will have to continue to find a solution in his absence.

Oliver Dovin remains out, having suffered an ACL injury in the latter stages of last campaign, which has kept him out of action all season, with Brighton loanee Carl Rushworth successfully deputising for him in his absence.
Dovin has proven not to be much of a miss at all thanks to Rushworth's heroics this campaign, though Lampard will be keen to have him back sooner rather than later to provide some more depth and competition in that area.

Bobby Thomas has been rock-solid in the heart of defence alongside Liam Kitching for Coventry this season, though he has missed the Sky Blues' last two games due to the flu, and looks set to miss this important fixture after also picking up a fresh injury.
Lampard revealed he has a fresh injury to his calf and is unlikely to feature in this fixture. Although he has not been ruled out altogether, it's still largely expected that former Ipswich man Luke Woolfenden will retain his place in Lampard's side for this one.

Like Thomas, Van Ewijk has also suffered from the flu, having been throwing up on the side of the pitch in their 1-1 draw away to Southampton last week, and was still suffering in their last outing against Swansea.
It's unclear as yet how much the flying Dutch wing-back has recovered, and he may yet play a part in this game, though his illness means he remains somewhat of a doubt for this one.

George Hirst has yet to take the mantle left behind by Liam Delap this summer, having hit six goals and grabbed one assist so far this season despite being McKenna's main man up front.
The former Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday man was substituted in the ninth minute in Ipswich's 3-1 home win over the Owls last week, and McKenna has since confirmed that the striker is set to miss 'a few weeks' at least, ruling him out of this fixture.

Conor Townsend remains out of action, having suffered an ACL injury during Ipswich's pre-season, ruling him out for much of this season.
Ashley Young and Leif Davis have made sure his absence hasn't been too sorely missed, though the left-back is certain to miss out on this crunch tie.

Harry Clarke played a pivotal role in Ipswich's initial rise from League One to the Premier League, but since then, the right-back has seen his game time at Portman Road drastically limited.
Having picked up a knee injury at the start of the season, McKenna described Clarke as "available for selection" all the way back in September, yet he has yet to feature for the club this season, instead picking up minutes for the Under-21 side, and unless something drastic happens, he too looks set to miss out on this one.

Sammie Szmodics underwent knee surgery back in late October and has since seen his game time massively limited.
Although the former Peterborough United and Blackburn Rovers attacking-midfielder returned to action in early December against Coventry, he has played just 30 minutes since, having missed out in the last two games against Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.
McKenna has insisted Szmodics recent absence "was just illness", though it remains to be seen if the 30-year-old will play any part against Coventry on Monday night.
