The growing political tension around Real Madrid has now started spilling directly into transfer rumours and managerial speculation, with presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme becoming the latest figure to shake the atmosphere around the club.
While the current board led by Florentino Perez continues moving closer towards bringing Jose Mourinho back, Riquelme appears determined to present a completely different vision for Real Madrid’s future.
Over recent days, reports in Spain have linked Riquelme’s presidential project with two blockbuster names – Jurgen Klopp and Erling Haaland.
According to the speculation, members connected to Riquelme’s campaign have already established contact with Klopp’s entourage in an attempt to convince the German coach to return to management and take charge of Real Madrid if elections are eventually held and won.

Klopp had previously been discussed internally as a possible successor to Alvaro Arbeloa before the club decided against pursuing the operation further.
Now, however, the possibility has suddenly reappeared through the political side of Real Madrid.
At the same time, Haaland’s name has also entered the conversation. Reports suggest that contacts have already taken place between figures linked to Riquelme’s candidacy and the Norwegian striker.
Rather than denying the rumours, Riquelme chose to respond with a statement that will only increase excitement among sections of the Real Madrid fanbase.
When questioned about the possibility of bringing both Klopp and Haaland to the club, the presidential candidate replied,

“Haaland and Klopp to Real Madrid if I win? The best ones have to be at Real Madrid and they always have been.
“The best ones always want to come to the best club.
“So, there’s a candidacy that will bring back that transparency, that governance, that democracy, that attracts, and above all, a winning project so that talent wants to come, so that people feel comfortable inside the club.
“Therefore, yes, of course — all the talent in the world,” he stated, as quoted by El Chiringuito TV.
For now, though, everything appears to be on track for Mourinho’s arrival on a two-year contract, but all that could change if the political landscape of the club changes.
