AI has decided which stands make the most noise at each Championship stadium

It is often debated on social media as to which fanbase in the Championship can provide the strongest atmosphere.

There are supporters of several second tier sides who would make strong cases that they have the best fans in the division, be that on home turf or in the away end at other stadiums.

Given the mix of clubs who currently reside in the Championship, including two former Premier League champions, as well as sides who harbour well-documented future ambitions, it is no surprise that there is a strong difference when it comes to the capacity of stadiums in the league too.

However, just because one club can facilitate for more supporters, this doesn't immediately ensure that they receive as much praise from visiting supporters in terms of the backing they have given their team over 90 minutes.

With that being said, Football League World called upon the assistance of AI-based chatbot, ChatGPT, to see if the programme can definitely name the stand of each Championship stadium that helps increase volume levels the most.

Birmingham City - The Tilton

Unsurprisingly, it is The Tilton which takes this acclaim from a Birmingham City perspective.

Bluenoses have stood on the Tilton for generations whilst offering plenty of encouragement and passion to their side, and that has certainly been the case as they look for a swift return to the Premier League.

Of course, half of the stand had to be closed off earlier in the decade due to much-needed repair work, and it will not be standing for much longer as the club unveiled plans for a new 62,000-seater stadium in November 2025.

Blackburn Rovers - The Blackburn End

Despite being one of the bigger stadiums in the Championship, Blackburn Rovers' recent fortunes have seen attendance figures at Ewood Park drastically decline.

With that being said, though, AI believes the aptly-named 'Blackburn End', named in memory of club legend, Ronnie Clayton, provides most of the noise in this part of East Lancashire, largely due to its close proximity to the pitch.

Bristol City - Dolman Stand

According to AI, Bristol City supporters in the Dolman Stand make the bulk of noise at Ashton Gate.

The stadium, of course, was modernised in the mid-2010s to a capacity of approximately 27,000, with the locals often selling it out too, as City look to push for promotion.

The noise levels in BS3 have also been improved due to the work of 'ultras' group, Section 82.

Charlton Athletic - Covered End

Charlton Athletic supporters have had plenty of reasons to be cheerful under Nathan Jones, with AI praising the atmosphere in the Covered End in particular.

The stand was renamed as the Covered End in 2019 to help commemorate the club's 100-year anniversary, with it being named in said manner after a roof was added to a previously exposed terrace in 1934, before being modernised over time.

AI states it is the 'emotional heart' of The Valley.

Coventry City - South Stand

Coventry City supporters were overjoyed when the club purchased the CBS Arena for the first time in August 2025, and they have been celebrating many victories there so far this season.

As such, it is the South Stand that generates the best noise in CV6, says AI.

Ironically, more home supporters are now being housed in the stand, as in November 2025, the club made the decision which also reduced the allocation of visiting supporters in order to create an even stronger home advantage.

Derby County - South Stand

It is also the South Stand at Pride Park that has received high praise from AI.

Derby County supporters are known for their loyalty and passion, but the computer believes that the noise coming from behind this particular goal is one of the best sections in the Championship for noise levels.

Hull City - North Stand

Similarly, the North Stand at Hull City's MKM Stadium has been selected for the fact it is where the bulk of chants are initially generated by Tigers supporters.

The atmosphere in HU3 can dwindle from time to time, but it isn't without those behind this particular goal trying to bolster the volume.

Ipswich Town - Sir Alf Ramsey Stand

The Sir Alf Ramsey Stand has generated plenty of noise to aid Ipswich Town's performances over time, and this hasn't gone unnoticed.

This has been particularly evident throughout the Tractor Boys' recent revival under Kieran McKenna, with tifos often used in a bid to help energise the other quarters of the stadium whilst attempting to strike fear into opponents.

Leicester City - The Kop (South Stand)

AI believes the 'Kop' or South Stand at Leicester City's King Power Stadium is the ground's best area in terms of atmosphere, although its modern design has been somewhat criticised.

It is fair to say that Foxes supporters haven't had many reasons to be cheerful in recent years, though, with their decline resulting in a recent boycott against West Bromwich Albion.

Middlesbrough - South Stand

The same cannot be said for the South Stand at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium, though, which has been known for generating plenty of noise in recent times.

Again, this can be somewhat credited to the work of 'Red Faction', who have organised several displays, banners and flags that can be used throughout matches as Boro look to end their Premier League hiatus.
