The Premier League side have a storied history in the Club World Cup, having reached the final in 2012 where they lost to Corinthians, before winning the competition in 2021 with an extra time victory over Palmeiras.
It was all the fours for Chelsea this season. Fourth in the Premier League, knocked out of the EFL and FA Cups in the fourth round but also completing the set by winning all four major European trophies with a Conference League triumph over Real Betis.
Chelsea are led by Italian tactician Enzo Maresca. The former Manchester City assistant joined the Stamford Bridge outfit last summer following Mauricio Pochettino's sacking.
Chelsea's standout player is Cole Palmer, an attacking midfielder and winger who has been instrumental in the team's success. In the 2023/24 season, Palmer scored 27 goals and provided 15 assists across all competitions, earning him the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
After a relatively disappointing season domestically, Chelsea will be looking to end the campaign on a high in the US. The London club have been drawn against Espérance, Flamengo and LAFC. Whoever it is, the Blues will fancy their chances of getting out of the group and going far.
