Manchester United will look to sell Andre Onana when he returns from his season-long loan with Trabzonspor next summer.
Currently, the goalkeeper has three years remaining on his United contract after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal when he signed in a £47.2 million deal from Inter Milan in July 2023.
Onana was brought in to succeed Red Devils icon David de Gea, who was released when his terms expired at the end of the 2022/2023 campaign.
It’s thought the Spaniard was messed around prior to his departure, having been offered an extension on reduced financial terms before the proposed contract was scrapped by club chiefs, and his 12-year stay at Old Trafford came to an end.

Within just months of his tenure getting underway, he had accumulated a catalogue of costly errors that only grew as the term progressed.
Even amidst his turbulent form, Erik ten Hag refused to drop the Cameroonian. He stuck to his guns week in and week out, irrespective of how Onana’s performances were proving detrimental to the side’s results.
Ruben Amorim eventually adopted a different stance when he took the reins 12 months ago, as, by the end of 2024/2025, the ‘keeper had been replaced by Altay Bayindir for the final league matches.
Bayindir retained his spot between the sticks for the opening games of 2025/2026 and, after Onana oversaw yet another horror display in United’s second-round Carabao Cup exit away to Grimsby Town, it set in stone that he would no longer be utilised by Amorim – whilst also paving the way for Senne Lammens’ arrival.

There was no buy option included in the 29-year-old’s loan agreement with Trabzonspor, though Fabrizio Romano has verified that he will not be playing for the Reds again.
“Onana will officially return to United at the beginning of the summer transfer window 2026, but my understanding is that Man United are super happy with Lammens, so, in this moment, I don’t think Onana is going to be a part of United’s plans,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.
“Probably, the idea is to find a solution for Onana; to explore the market.”
