A game that was going in the wrong direction for a long time only turned completely in the final minutes. Tom Bischof became the decisive figure for FC Bayern. After the final whistle, the 20-year-old spoke about his special evening and a clear mission from Joshua Kimmich.
FC Bayern trailed for a long time at SC Freiburg before a furious final phase turned the game around completely. Tom Bischof scored twice in the 3:2 away win and played a key role in the late success. They were also his first two goals since joining the record champions.
After the game, the young midfielder explained why things went better in front of goal this time than last time. „Before the game, Jo [Kimmich] said to me: ‚Can you please shoot?‘ – because I always do that in training – but in the game I don’t find the right situation or miss the moment. And today I did it. It was a great feeling, and of course it was also great to help the boys to victory,“ said the Aschaffenburg native.
Vincent Kompany’s team had previously struggled to get into the game. Freiburg took the lead after the break and extended their advantage to 2:0 in the meantime. It was only in the final minutes that Munich managed to turn the tide, with Bischof scoring the equalizer in stoppage time.

After the final whistle, the 20-year-old particularly emphasised the team spirit within the squad: „We wouldn’t be Bayern if we hadn’t believed in ourselves right to the end. Of course, there was a bit of luck involved at the end, but even after the 2:2, we were still determined to win. We just know what kind of team we are. We always stick together.“
Lennart Karl’s goal in the final action finally secured victory for the Munich side, turning around a match that had not gone according to plan for long stretches.
Despite the success, Bischof was already looking ahead to the upcoming task in the Champions League: „We know that we have to step up our game against Real Madrid. We even need three or four steps more than we did today.“
