Not long now to wait for the Newcastle United victory parade.

Saturday will see, at last, the players and fans able to come together and celebrate.

The expanded Champions League meant that the Carabao Cup Final was pushed back from the usual late February date, to the middle of March.

With the international break now immediately following the 2025 Carabao Cup Final, the official celebrations having to be delayed for a couple of weeks.

The exact details and timings for Saturday, both Newcastle United victory parade and Town Moor event, have now been revealed.

Saturday timeline:

1.30pm Town Moor site opens

2pm Cup Final match replay on big screens at Town Moor site

4pm Main stage entertainment start at the Town Moor

4.30pm Open top bus Newcastle United victory parade starts – NUFC squad set off from St James’ Park

5pm Q and A with legends at Town Moor

6.35pm Newcastle players take to main stage at Town Moor

7.15pm Sela spectacular surprise

7.30pm Event finishes at Town Moor

8.15pm Town Moor site closes

Numbers expected?

I have been told by a number of good sources, that the club, council and Police, are expecting up to 300,000 Newcastle United fans to turn up for the celebrations on Saturday, attending the Newcastle United victory parade and/or the Town Moor event.

The weather forecast has improved from early in the week, from likely to rain, to very unlikely to rain. Hopefully that is on the money and as many people as possible can enjoy a dry event (Quite literally at the Town Moor event, with no alcohol allowed!).

Road closures for Newcastle United’s celebrations

To facilitate this major event safely, there will be a series of road closures in place around the parade route and Town Moor.

Fans heading into the city for the historic Newcastle United celebrations on Saturday, 29 March are advised to plan ahead, allow more time for their journey and use public transport where possible.

The city is set to be extremely busy as people gather for the celebrations and line the streets for an open-top bus parade carrying the team and trophy. The bus will leave St James’ Park and travel through the city centre to the Town Moor, where an open-air event to celebrate the club’s historic Carabao Cup final victory is being held.

To facilitate this major event safely, there will be a series of road closures in place around the parade route and Town Moor. The council has been working closely with the club throughout, but events of this scale take careful planning and input from partners before being finalised.

Cllr Karen Kilgour, Leader of Newcastle City Council said: “This is a monumental and exciting event for the city as we come together to celebrate this amazing achievement.

“We know how much this event means to the city, and we’ve worked closely with our partners to ensure that everyone can be part of this historic occasion.

“This will be one of the biggest events we have seen in the city, and the safety of everyone attending is paramount. With huge crowds expected, we want everyone to enjoy it and get there and home safely so there will be a number of road closures required, and we’re asking people to plan ahead and use public transport.

“I am sure it will be a fantastic and proud day for our city and I can’t wait to be there.”

Road closures include:

For the Town Moor event

Great North Road – from Blue House roundabout to Claremont Road including the slip roads from CME North and Southbound to Barras Bridge and Great North Road – closed from 12 noon until 9.30pm

Barras Bridge – between St Marys Place and Claremont Road – closed from 4pm until 9.30pm

Claremont Road – between Queen Victoria Road and Barras Bridge – closed from 4pm until 9.30pm

As part of the celebrations a parade will be taking place from St James’ Park to the Town Moor between 16:00 to 18:00 with road closures in place along the route, the parade route will require the following closures;

Barrack Road from Stanhope Street to St. James Boulevard, Gallowgate, St. James Boulevard from Westgate Road to Gallowgate, Percy Street, Blackett Street, New Bridge Street West (Westbound) from John Dobson Street to Pilgrim Street, Barras Bridge, St. Mary’s Place from John Dobson Street to Barras Bridge/Percy Street.

The whole route will be closed from 4pm and will reopen in sections once parade and all people following has passed when it is safe to do so.’

Newcastle United has confirmed further plans for the club’s Carabao Cup celebrations, with the team set to have a bus parade before an event on the Town Moor.

All Supporters who registered an interest will receive a ticket to the Town Moor celebration.

Eddie Howe’s side will celebrate their recent cup win with a city centre open top bus on Saturday 29 March, which will start at St. James’ Park, before making its way to the Town Moor for the celebration event.

Extensive work and long-term planning behind the scenes have continued with Newcastle City Council, Northumbria Police, Freemen of Newcastle, the North East Combined Authority, NE1, Nexus and the emergency services.

Newcastle United would like to thank all partners for the comprehensive planning and hard work throughout the process, as well as the meetings with the Safety Advisory Group. Further supporter information will be confirmed following additional meetings this week.

The club received unprecedented interest from supporters wishing to attend the event on the Town Moor. Every fan that registered an interest in the event will receive a ticket via email.

Route of Celebration & Timings

The bus route is open to the general public to attend. The open top bus will leave St. James’ Park with timings to be shared in advance. The bus will make its way down Gallowgate, turning onto Percy Street before heading onto the B1318 towards Gosforth. The bus will stop at the Town Moor where the players will make their way onto the stage. The full bus route will be shown live on large screens at the Town Moor event.

Transport & Travel

Supporters are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and are advised to use public transport where possible. A number of road closures will be in operation on Saturday 29 March, on the following roads: (timings of closures to follow)

Supporters are permitted to bring their own food and drink to the Town Moor event but are kindly reminded that no alcohol is permitted as this is a family-orientated event. Daysack-size Bags are allowed but are subject to security checks.
