The Portuguese midfielder heads for pastures new after nine record breaking seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

And while his overall impact on the Club cannot simply be boiled down into numbers and statistics, they do help demonstrate just how crucial he has been to everything that has happened.

No player has ever won more major trophies for City than Bernardo, with only John Stones and Phil Foden able to match his haul.

His medal collection comprises of six Premier Leagues, five League Cups, three FA Cups, three Community Shields and one of each of the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

As for his six Premier League titles, only five players have ever won the top-flight more since its rebrand in 1992.

460

Bernardo is the most used player in Pep’s coaching career, playing 460 times for the Catalan.

That places him eighth in terms of all-time appearances for City, surpassing Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee in the final weeks of his time at the Etihad Stadium on 452.

Spread across the nine seasons he spent at City, that means the tireless midfielder averaged more than 51 games per season for the Club.

In fact, he only failed to hit half a century of appearances in two campaigns out of nine – 2020/21 and 2023/24.

As for the Premier League only, he is second only to David Silva in terms of appearances in a City shirt, registering 304 games in the English top-flight to his Spanish namesake’s 309.

Given his position and the ever increasing demands on elite footballers, Bernardo’s durability remained an astounding aspect of his record right until the end of his City career.

75

Only Kevin De Bruyne provided more assists for Pep Guardiola’s City than Bernardo, with the playmaker laying on 75 goals for his team-mates.

De Bruyne racked up 158 assists, with Raheem Sterling third on 66.

50 of Bernardo’s assists came in the Premier League while 2018/19 was his most productive in terms of supplying team-mates across all competitions with 13 in total.

Again, not necessarily renowned for his consistent goalscoring, Bernardo still chipped in with plenty of vital goals.

He’s eighth when it comes to goals under Pep and 33rd overall in our history, sandwiched between Niall Quinn and Ernie Toseland.

He notched 13 goals in both 2018/19 and 2021/22 for his joint most prolific campaigns.

But the goals he did score we memorable, including a Goal of the Season winner at Aston Villa, vital strikes on the road in the Manchester derby and who could forget his two in Champions League semi-final mauling of Real Madrid?

Talking of that 2022/23 Champions League run, Bernardo was one of only three players to play every single game on our way to glory in that competition.

Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan were just as integral to Pep’s plans for continental glory.

While Bernardo played in almost every position on the pitch during his time at City, that run was all about the right wing for him, utilising his supreme technical ability and understanding of the game to keep possession.

217

No individual has won more Premier League games than Bernardo since he arrived in England.

Our No.20 was victorious in 217 of his 304 appearances, totalling a win rate of over 71%.

Ederson is the next most successful player in the Premier League since the start of the 2017/18 season, winning 205 times, with Mohamed Salah next best on 201.

11.92

That’s Bernardo’s average distance covered per 90 minutes in the Premier League in kilometres since Opta started collecting the data since the start of 2020/21.

It means he’s run more than anyone else in a City shirt, with Rodri averaging 11.83 and Phil Foden on 11.7.

With Bernardo playing so much more than anyone else for City in the Premier League too, it means he’s run a total distance of 2021.4km in the last six seasons.

He’s also run the third most of anyone in the Premier League on average, with West Ham’s Tomas Soucek and Brighton’s Pascal Gross the only ones to go further.

Given how much time City spend in possession and therefore running less, that’s a frankly astonishing level of energy from the brilliant Bernardo.

Truly a player that gave his all.
