Looking at this Newcastle team v Everton.
Our next match in the Premier League.
Newcastle United looking to get back on the winning trail after Marseille on Tuesday night.
Though the most recent Premier League game was that excellent win over Manchester City just last Saturday.
Victory today would take Newcastle above Everton and potentially into the top half of the table, depending on other results this weekend.
As a reminder, this was the Newcastle team v Marseille:
Pope, Livramento, Thiaw, Schar, Burn, Willock, Bruno, Tonali, Barnes, Gordon, Murphy
Eddie Howe gave an update on Friday, regarding the injury and availability for the squad ahead of Saturday’s match.
Yoane Wissa and Will Osula remain out, plus Kieran Trippier set to be out for a few weeks as well with a hamstring issue.
Eddie Howe saying Sven Botman has been struggling with a back issue, whilst the Head Coach adding that Emil Krafth is now ok after a knock picked up on international duty.
So taking all of that into consideration…
This is my predicted Newcastle team v Everton:
Pope, Livramento, Thiaw, Schar, Hall, Bruno, Joelinton, Tonali, Jacob Murphy, Woltemade, Barnes
If proved correct, this would mean three changes from Marseille.
Whilst no doubt many of you will have also realised that my predicted Newcastle team v Everton, is also the exact same eleven who started last Saturday.
That team played so well against Manchester City, why would you want to change it?
Eddie Howe of course made clear that he couldn’t play the exact same team on Tuesday against Marseille, he had to rotate his squad and not risk unnecessary injuries if possible.
However, I think the likes of Hall, Joelinton and Woltemade will be fine to come back into the starting eleven. Then it comes down to how other players are physically, information which as fans we don’t have, with Eddie Howe consulting with his medical staff etc as to how players are after playing Saturday and Tuesday.
The likes of Dan Burn and Anthony Gordon are of course options that the manager could decide to go with today, plus of course the goalkeeping situation is a live one…
My feeling is though that Eddie Howe will give that team a chance again that performed so well and beat Manchester City, including Nick Pope!
