Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner faces an anxious wait to discover whether two of his senior players will be available for selection against Everton this weekend.

Dominique Janssen and Jayde Riviere both have question-marks over their heads due to injury, he revealed in a press conference.

Janssen was substituted at half-time against West Ham United in midweek, while Riviere was not in the squad at all.

“Dom came off with a little bit of a hamstring thing,” explained Skinner.

“We’re assessing her this [Friday] morning. We’ve let them in later today based on coming back late after the game against West Ham.

“Jayde is out on the field today, I believe, so hopefully if it’s not Everton it will be Bayern [in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday]. The tests were fine today.

“Apart from that, everyone is reporting a little bit tired but ready to play.”

Leah Galton, Ella Toone and Anna Sandberg remain on the sidelines as they recover from their own injuries.

Skinner also reflected on United’s lack of a goal since the international break, having not scored against West Ham or in the Subway Women’s League Cup final against Chelsea.

And he hinted that Elisabeth Terland might hold the key to solving this problem.

“I think more importantly for us it’s looking at getting those forward players on the pitch,” he said. “Teri [Terland] has the quality in pressing and intelligence to press from midfield so she naturally fits in that [number 10 role], too.

“It’s not something we’ll just use in these moments, especially given the quality of player Teri is – arriving late and finishing from the edge of the area, it’s a real threat.

“At the right times I think it will be used, but I also see her as a nine as well.”
