There's another one! Special full-back coming through at Liverpool

There's another special full-back coming through the system at Liverpool.

Liverpool have quietly built a reputation as one of the most reliable producers of full-backs at academy level, consistently developing players capable of performing at the highest level.

The standout example remains Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose rise from the academy to becoming one of the most creative defenders in world football set the benchmark. Although his move to Real Madrid marks the end of an era, it also highlights the elite standard Liverpool’s system can reach.

That pathway hasn’t slowed down. Conor Bradley has stepped up impressively, establishing himself as a key figure in the first team with his energy and attacking intent. Meanwhile, Neco Williams has gone on to excel at Nottingham Forest, showing that even those who move on are well-equipped for top-flight football.

Beyond them, the production line continues with talents like Owen Beck and Luke Chambers emerging through the ranks. Both represent the next wave of technically sound, tactically intelligent full-backs.

What sets Liverpool apart is their ability to develop defenders who are not just solid at the back, but also influential going forward- making the academy a crucial asset for the club’s long-term success.

And the production line doesn't show any signs of slowing down either.

There's been a lot of speculation about Andy Robertson recently. He looks increasingly likely to leave the Reds on a free transfer this summer.

The club reportedly explored the possibility of selling him to Tottenham in January, which strongly suggested they were already planning for life without him.

Since then, there has been little to indicate any progress on a contract extension. Talks appear either stalled or non-existent, reinforcing the idea that both parties may be ready to move on.

Robertson’s potential exit would mark the end of a hugely successful spell, during which he established himself as one of the club’s most consistent performers.

Given his age, it makes sense to part ways with him, but the question then becomes how do you replace him?

Sure, Milos Kerkez will become an astute first-choice, but beyond him, who could be his cover?

Well the answer might be a lot simpler. It could come in the form of another talented academy graduate in Clae Ewing.

A talented defender, who can also play in midfield, the 19-year-old has been playing for the club's academy since U12 level after joining from Bury.

He made great strides last season earning a promotion to the U21s, where he established himself as a regular this season.

Ewing reads the game very well, and he's good in one vs one challenges, too. This season he has won 62.3% of his 7.33 defensive duels per 90 minutes, and has also averaged 7.9 recoveries, with an impressive 50% of them coming in the opposition's half - highlighting his pressing ability to win the ball high up the field.

He's definitely an offensive player, who loves to create chances. He's a high volume crosser who averages four crosses per 90 minutes into the box.

Because of his composure and his ability in the final third, he looks like a very similar player to Kerkez in where his strengths lie, which could make him an easy back-up for the Hungarian.
