The 38-year-old completed a move from Manchester United to the East Midlands side during last month’s transfer window.
Manchester United will come up against Williams this weekend when they travel to The King Power Stadium to take on The Foxes. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Manchester United boss Skinner said that the veteran forward is not done yet and that her threat must be managed this weekend.
“We hate playing against Rach because of the quality that she has,” Skinner said. “At this stage of her career, to go to her home club where her family are around supporting, to get an extended contract was the right decision at that time.
“For Rachel to do that, there’s still romance left in her football. Hopefully, we can keep her contained because she’s a real threat.”
Leicester City go into the game just two points off the bottom of the table. Despite The Foxes’ struggles, Skinner says that his own side must continue their recent good form.
He said “I’ve got so much respect for Rick [Passmoor], not only now for what he’s doing at Leicester, I’ve known him for a long time. I know how Rick’s teams set up and how difficult they are to play against but they also have that attacking quality to hurt you.
“We have got to be ready. I’ve told the players to not look too far ahead; this is their sole focus right now. If you want to compete in the league and stay as high as possible, we’ve got to do our job.
“We’ve been brilliant in this first part of the year and now, it’s about continuing that form.”
Recent wins for West Ham United and Liverpool have increased the heat on Leicester City and Skinner is pleased to see a competitive relegation battle brewing.
He said “It’s tight. I hope there’s not a massive split but you’ve seen Tottenham, London City, Villa, Brighton, show those differences in gaps in recent years. They’ve shown that with investment, you can shut them.
“It’s exciting for everybody and keeps it tight down there. There’s not one story of who is going into Europe and so on, there’s a few stories throughout the league which is exciting.”
Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Leicester City kicks-off at 12pm on Saturday afternoon.
