Thibaut Courtois played a decisive role in Belgium’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Senegal, but the Real Madrid goalkeeper also grabbed headlines after the match with his comments on Marc Cucurella, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.
Belgium found themselves under pressure for large periods of the encounter, with Courtois producing a crucial save in the 84th minute to deny Senegal what would have been a third goal and a commanding advantage.
Instead, Belgium mounted an impressive comeback, and Courtois once again showed why he remains one of the most influential goalkeepers in world football.
After the game, the Belgian international spoke to DAZN and touched on several Real Madrid topics, including the club’s latest arrival and two of its biggest stars.
The Marc Cucurella Real Madrid move has generated plenty of discussion, and Courtois, for one, was asked for his thoughts on the Spanish defender’s arrival.

The goalkeeper responded in a playful manner, joking about Cucurella’s integration into the dressing room.
Speaking about the new signing, Courtois said, “I’ve started following Cucurella on Instagram now, but he hasn’t followed me back – but then again, he’s not in the WhatsApp group yet.”
Aside from discussing Marc Cucurella, Courtois also spoke about Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, who continue to impress with their performances at the World Cup.
The Belgian goalkeeper revealed that he has remained in contact with several teammates during the tournament and highlighted Mbappe’s outstanding form.

Discussing the Real Madrid duo, Courtois stated, “I’ve spoken to a few others, Kylian more so – he’s on fire – and Vini too.
“So, anyway, let them keep scoring their goals at the World Cup and I hope they will do the same in the new season with Real Madrid.”
Lastly, the goalkeeper also shared his excitement about the prospect of seeing the two forwards flourish together under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
“They’re two incredible players; when you see them performing at that level… I hope that, with the new manager, we can bring them together, play some great football and win titles, because I think we’ve got a fantastic team, so I hope we keep winning trophies.”
