Chelsea forward Joao Pedro says winning the Club World Cup shows why he chose to join the Blues.
Cole Palmer stole the show in the final in New Jersey with two well taken goals early in the first half.
The Brazilian, who arrived less than two weeks ago from Brighton in a £60m deal, sealed the win for Enzo Maresca’s side on the stroke of half-time as he chipped the ball over PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to make it 3-0 to the Premier League side.
The Blues saw off the Champions League winners to secure a second piece of silverware this season, after their triumph in the Conference League.
And Joao Pedro says these moments are the exact reason why he ended his holiday early to sign for the west London club.
“I’m very happy,” he said. “I was on holiday, they called me to come to this tournament, and in Brazil this tournament is very important.
“We saw today that Drogba was here, so you see how important this tournament is for everyone.
“That’s why I came to Chelsea, to win trophies and we have. I’m very happy, now we need to rest and prepare for next season.
“We put our plan out and won the game. The group is very good guys, they want to win. Great mentality.”
After the match finished, both sets of teams came to blows in a heated confrontation, with Maresca doing his best to drag his team away.
There was also an altercation between Joao Pedro and PSG manager Luis Enrique, which showed the PSG boss pushing the 23-year-old but Joao Pedro brushed off the incident.
“I don’t know what to say about them because it’s normal,” he said. “Everyone wanted to win the game, in the end they lost their heads but it’s football.
“Now we need to enjoy this because we won the tournament, that’s it.
“I don’t want to talk too much about them because you know how it works, football is this.”
