Timothée Pembélé leaves Sunderland for permanent Le Havre move

Sunderland have confirmed Timothée Pembélé has joined Le Havre on a permanent deal as their summer business gathers pace.

The club said in a statement that the 23-year-old has left for the Ligue 1 side and made eight appearances for Sunderland after signing in September 2023.

He previously had two loan spells with Le Havre across the last two seasons, featuring 35 times in Ligue 1.

Pembélé joined from PSG on deadline day in summer 2023, but early injury and fitness issues restricted his minutes on Wearside.

No fee was disclosed, and Sunderland are unlikely to have recouped much, if any, of the sum paid for the right back, while the move offers him a fresh start and eases the wage bill.
