Inter Miami earned a convincing 3-1 win over LA Galaxy, powered by their former FC Barcelona stars. The Herons took advantage of a struggling Galaxy side, which is enduring one of their toughest seasons.

Lionel Messi returned to action after missing the 4-1 loss against Orlando City. The Argentine captain entered the game in the second half.

With this win, the Herons climb to fourth place in the Eastern Conference, waiting for the clash against Tigres.

Here are two takeaways from Inter Miami's 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy.

Lionel Messi is irreplaceable

During the Saturday night game, there were two Inter Miami. The first one without Messi, and the second one with him.

That's when you notice the Heron’s captain is different. Many players need time to adapt after missing two weeks of training and matches, but not Messi.

The Argentine not only helped his club secure the victory, but also contributed with a goal and an assist. With the 45 minutes Mascherano gave Messi, he created five chances, had five shots on goal, and had 26 touches.

Messi is a must if the Herons want to compete in both tournaments, MLS and Leagues Cup.

Luis Suarez is not finished

For months, Heron fans and MLS journalists stated that Luis Suarez was finished. That he was too old to keep playing as a starter, and that his knees didn’t work. Despite these claims, Suarez proved that father time is catching up, but not like people think.

It’s clear that Luis Suarez isn’t the beast he was at FC Barcelona, but at 38 years old, he proved to be lethal when it mattered.

Even without scoring, Suarez remains useful with his defensive pressure and his touch to connect with his team.

People can talk what they like, but one thing is clear: Inter Miami needs Luis Suarez to achieve victory.
