Torino Sporting Director Gianluca Petrachi is desperately seeking a young defender with plenty of potential.
Daniele Ghilardi, a 2003-born Roma center back who is finding little space in Gian Piero Gasperini’s rotation, could also fit this profile.
In recent weeks, the young defender has appeared upset after being sidelined by too many Roma benches, and the idea of a temporary transfer to play regularly under Baroni is appealing.
According to Tuttosport, Torino has already conducted initial inquiries, identifying him as the ideal player in terms of value for money. However, the deal is not an easy one.
Gasperini is said to have temporarily vetoed Ghilardi’s departure.
The reason is purely tactical and numerical: Gasperini doesn’t intend to lose a defensive alternative without first securing a quality new signing.
With negotiations for players like Disasi or Dragusin still being finalized, Roma cannot afford to cut back, especially considering the tight schedule of league and cup competitions.
