Ange Postecoglou blamed "unusual" individual errors as Tottenham slumped to a 17th league defeat of the season against Wolves, going down 4-2 at Molineux.

Guglielmo Vicario was at fault as Wolves scored twice in the first half, the goalkeeper flapping at crosses ahead of Ryan Ait-Nouri's opener in the second minute and a Djed Spence own goal.

Jorgen Strand Larsen capitalised on a Cristian Romero error to make it 3-1 in the second half and Matheus Cunha pickpocketed Lucas Bergvall for Wolves' fourth.

It means Spurs will travel to Germany for Thursday's Europa League quarter-final decider against Eintracht Frankfurt, with the tie finely poised at 1-1, on the back of another difficult away day.

Asked if he had confidence that Vicario would recover for the Frankfurt game, Postecoglou said: "Yeah, 100 per cent confidence.

"Obviously we made some individual errors today which was a bit unusual for us, fair to say. They all happened in one game and unfortunately we got punished from it.

"It's not like they're doing it on purpose. [Romero and Bergvall] in particular are pretty reliable in those kind of situations but today it was a collection of events which were unusual which makes it really difficult to get an outcome from the game.

"When you look at those things in isolation, they're just things that are unusual for us and for those players in those moments. It happens. It might happen once in a game or a season, and for us it happened multiple times in a game.

"I don't think it's any lack of focus from the players and from my perspective, I don't think that's a major concern.

"I'd probably be more frustrated if it was something that we did from a tactical perspective or organisational perspective, but they're individual errors, you know, the players don't mean to do it and, especially Lucas and Romero, I mean they're two fantastic footballers and what's important now for both of them is that they recover and we focus on the next game."

Mathys Tel and Richarlison pulled back goals for Spurs in the second half, only for Wolves to quickly restore their cushion on both occasions, while Dejan Kulusevski's premature return to fitness for the final 15 minutes was a boost.

"It was good for Deki, Richarlison and Matty Tel to get minutes," Postecoglou said. "That will be important Thursday night for sure. Especially those three it was really good to get decent minutes in them and they all felt really good.

"[The players] shouldn't be in a bad headspace, and I think, you know, the game Thursday is massive for us. I thought we played well on Thursday night against them and probably should have got a win out of that game.

"We know that when we play our football like we did on Thursday night, we can certainly make an impact."

Son (foot) and Wilson Odobert were both left out of the squad but Postecoglou is confident of having both available mid-week.

"They should be [fine], yeah, yeah, Sonny got a knock and no point in him traveling today and with Wilson, as I said before, I was just managing him, but the whole idea was hopefully managing him so he can be right for Thursday night," he said.
