Mathys Tel, Radu Dragusin and January signing Conor Gallagher have all now been registered to play in Europe’s premier competition, replacing Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur and Brennan Johnson.

Davies and Bentancur have suffered potentially season-ending injuries, while Johnson departed the club in January, moving to Crystal Palace for £35million.

Davies sustained a broken ankle in the 2-1 defeat by West Ham last month, while Bentancur injured his hamstring against Bournemouth.

The pair needed surgery on their respective issues, and will be sidelined for months.

As such, that has opened available spaces in the limited Champions League squad for those that had originally been shunned from the roster.

The most high-profile was Tel, who made his loan move from Bayern Munich permanent in the summer, with the French forward reported to have not been happy to have been omitted by Frank.

He was brought into the fold earlier in the season while Dominic Solanke was struggling with injury, but was swiftly taken back out when the England striker returned to full fitness.

Dragusin missed the start of the campaign as he recovered from an ACL injury, but his inclusion comes at a crucial time for Frank and Spurs after Cristian Romero went off ill at half time in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City, and Micky van de Ven missed the match with a knock.

Kevin Danso snapped a ligament in his toe in Spurs’ Champions League win at Frankfurt ahead of the City clash, and the Austrian also missed the draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It forced Frank to field natural midfielder Joao Palhinha on the right side of his back three, with Romero at the heart of the trio and Dragusin to the left.

With Romero’s withdrawal at half time, however, it meant that Palhinha partnered Dragusin in a back four as the home side chased the game.

Frank has been dealing with a growing injury list, with both his right-backs, Pedro Porro and Djed Spence, both sidelined, meaning that Archie Gray was shifted to right wing-back last weekend.

The Dane had just 11 senior players to pick from for City’s visit, but he will be hoping to welcome back a few key names ahead of his side’s trip to Manchester United on Saturday.
