In a recent report, The Guardian stated that Tottenham Hotspur are facing tough competition for West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to rival Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester United in pursuit of the Ghanaian talent this summer.

Kudus’ Up-And-Down Campaign In English Football

Kudus struggled to find consistency with his performances in the Premier League but managed to catch the eye at times in the final third. The 24-year-old registered five goals and earned four assists in 35 matches for the East London club last season across all fronts.

The Accra-born talent did well to average 2.61 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 28% of his attempts on target. Kudus was accurate when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to land Kudus on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Go For Kudus?

Kudus is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The Ghanaian sensation can strike the ball with venom from long range but needs to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opposition goal. Kudus is primarily a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play as a centre-forward if required.

We can expect Kudus to add more firepower to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 24, the best is yet to come from Kudus, so Spurs would do well to bring him on board in this summer transfer period. He might even Tottenham challenge across all competitions in the future. Therefore, Frank would be wise to go for a player of his skill set this summer.
