In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to land Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to rival Newcastle United and Everton in pursuit of the English talent next year.

Gallagher’s Impressive Form In La Liga

The 25-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for Diego Simeone’s team at the centre of the park. Gallagher has scored two goals in 20 matches for Atletico Madrid this season across all competitions.

The English sensation has offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and deserves credit for making 14 tackles, nine blocks, nine interceptions and three clearances in La Liga. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 88.4% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for Spurs to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.

Is Gallagher A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Gallagher is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball.

However, the English sensation has to find a way to add more goals and assists to his game. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League from his time at Chelsea and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.

Gallagher would no doubt enhance the quality of Spurs head coach Thomas Frank’s midfield department. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 25, Gallagher has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Tottenham’s needs in the long run. He is good enough to help Spurs get back to challenging for some major trophies over the next few seasons. All in all, Frank should focus on going all out to recruit him in 2026.
