Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.
They have had two bids for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke rejected, and it appears they are exploring other options.
Ordonez has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League, and Spurs could now join Liverpool in the race for a player described as ‘phenomenal
The 22-year-old has proven himself with Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League, winning the league title, the Belgian Super Cup and the Belgian Cup.
Ordonez’s style is perfect for manager Roberto De Zerbi’s system.
A move to the Premier League could appeal to Ordonez, and more suitors could come calling in the coming weeks if he impresses at the World Cup.
Ecuador are in Group E of the tournament alongside Germany, Ivory Coast and Curacao.
Scouts will be running the rule over the Club Brugge star in the coming weeks, and Spurs may have to present a compelling offer to have a chance of signing him.
While De Zerbi would prefer a reunion with Paul van Hecke, Tottenham may need to settle for Ordonez with the Seagulls playing hardball.
The Ecuadorian could be perfect for the Lilywhites, but a move could be dependent on what happens with their interest in his Brighton counterpart.
An improved bid could be on the cards, but Spurs will move on to other targets if their subsequent offers for the Netherlands international rejected.
Ordonez will have options this summer, and playing in the Champions League next term could be more appealing to him.
