In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Xavi Simons wants to join Barcelona this summer. It has been mentioned that the Dutch talent is open to parting ways with Spurs in favour of a dream move to the Catalan club this off-season.
Simons has caught the eye at times with his performances for Tottenham in the Premier League. The Dutch playmaker has featured in 40 matches for Spurs this season, finding the back of the net five times and earning six assists in all competitions.
The 22-year-old is currently among the most gifted young playmakers in European football. Thus, it is no surprise that he wants to join a top club like Barcelona, considering Tottenham’s current predicament in the Premier League.
His current contract at the North London club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, Spurs are in no immediate need to cash in on him in the upcoming transfer window.

Simons is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals
The Dutch sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a winger if told to do so by his manager. When fit, he remains an important member of Tottenham’s match-day squad. However, the jury is still out on whether he can prove himself as a consistent performer in the Premier League.
Still, the North London club should try to keep hold of Simons for the duration of his contract as he has the skill set to grow into a top player for them in the future.
At 22, the future looks quite bright for Simons as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, Spurs simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality this summer unless they receive a massive offer for his services.
