Tottenham have spent the international break without much of their senior squad, yet Randal Kolo Muani has quietly moved closer to full fitness. The forward, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Watford at Hotspur Way on Friday, playing 45 minutes as he continued his return from a dead leg.
He arrived at Spurs on Deadline Day with excitement surrounding his arrival, but has been limited to just one substitute appearance in the Champions League against Villarreal. That cameo remains his only outing in a Tottenham shirt. His absence has been longer than first anticipated after a collision in training with Pape Matar Sarr.
“It was just a dead leg that was just bleeding too much, so very simple,” head coach Thomas Frank said. “That’s sorted now, so now we just need to get him up to pace. It was no muscle, nothing. Just a contact unfortunately and then bleeding.”

With most first team players away on international duty, Kolo Muani has been one of the few senior figures training consistently at the club’s Enfield base. That extra time under coaching staff could hand Tottenham a useful edge as they prepare for Aston Villa at home next weekend.
After missing five matches, his availability would offer welcome depth in attack. Spurs have leaned heavily on their core forwards in recent weeks, and with fixtures beginning to stack up across multiple competitions, fresh legs could prove valuable.
Kolo Muani has another week to build sharpness before Tottenham return to Premier League action. Whether he starts or not is another matter, but being back in the squad would mark progress after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.
His versatility across the front line was one of the key reasons Spurs moved for him in the summer window. If he can translate training rhythm into competitive impact, he may soon offer a different attacking dimension.
Tottenham have also recently confirmed a £100m cash injection from the Lewis family, signalling wider ambition off the pitch. While finances will shape future windows, the immediate focus remains on maximising current resources. Getting Kolo Muani fit and firing could be the first small step in that direction.
A quiet international break at Hotspur Way might yet prove decisive if it delivers another goal threat back into contention.
