In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on recruiting Brentford star Yoane Wissa. It is believed that Spurs are ready to intensify their efforts to land the Congolese talent but have still not made a formal offer for him.
Wissa had an excellent campaign at the English club after he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 28-year-old scored 20 times and earned five assists in 39 matches for Brentford last season in multiple competitions.
The Congolese talent gave a good account of himself in the final third as he averaged 2.77 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 45.6% of his attempts on target. Wissa was even excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 76.5% in league football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Brentford will run out next summer which could open the door for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Wissa is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The Congolese sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range. Wissa is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so by his manager. He has proven his worth as a consistent goal-scorer in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club.
We can expect Wissa to bring more firepower to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s attack. He has what it takes to compete for regular first-team football at the North London club next season.
At 28, Wissa is playing in his prime which makes him a worthy target for Spurs to consider in this summer transfer window. He would be an excellent fit for Tottenham’s needs in the short term, so Frank would be wise to get a deal over the line for him soon.
