Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham Hotspur has signed Mathys Tel on loan. What, you asking for a Southampton connection? Man, this just saved the club's future, big time.
Southampton has had a rollercoaster-like winter transfer window, to say the least. Despite some setbacks during the window, the Saints were particularly fortunate to keep hold of their talented gem.
Yes, we are talking about Southampton sensation Tyler Dibling.
Initially started as faint rumors, Dibling's Saints departure talks had started strengthening quickly. Certainly, interest from other European clubs escalated matters, but it was Tottenham's fiery enthusiasm that put the Saints fans' ambitions at risk.
To the extent that the club had started visualizing a swap deal for Spurs talent Tyrese Hall. Thankfully, Southampton dodged that possibility as Tottenham ended up signing Mathys Tel on the deadline day.
Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move, saying: "Mathys Tel has signed his contract at Tottenham, with buy option included in the loan agreement. Bayern have accepted the conditions as Spurs will cover the salary until June + have chance to trigger the clause for €60m in the summer."
While all wouldn't admit it, Tottenham's Tel purchase has relieved stress off every Saints fan.
Dealing with hardships throughout the season, Spurs were desperate to go all out for a young name upfront. Still, their decision to finish the window with Tel has helped Southampton unthinkably.
Analyzing the scenario, a massive signing here has set Spurs at least for a season. Aptly, unless and until their Tel's deal doesn't fail miserably, they wouldn't disturb Southampton for Dibling ahead.
Otherwise also, having many years ahead, Dibling can yield worth more than what the Saints had got over his deal.
For now, Dibling is nearing an injury return he faced against Manchester United. And the hope remains that, the 18-year-old continues from where he left off.
