A new era at Tottenham will begin this weekend with a clear statement in the stands from the club's ownership.

Spurs travel to face West Ham on Saturday evening and Daniel Levy's absence will be noticeable, with the trip to the London Stadium the first match since his departure as executive chairman.

Vivienne Lewis, the daughter of Joe Lewis, was alongside Levy for the opening match of the season against Burnley and is set to remain a regular presence.

She made the trip for all of the club's pre-season tour to Hong Kong and South Korea in the summer and is among the younger generations of the Lewis family to have become increasingly involved at Spurs.

Her brother Charles is another important figure, and son-in-law Nick is also expected to be one of those watching on from the stands in the weeks ahead.

The Lewis family have largely stayed in the background during their time running Spurs, allowing Levy to be the public face of the club's leadership.

There is set to be a slight change to that approach going forward, at least in the immediate future, with it felt a more visible display of their backing for the club could be beneficial.

However, while the children and grandchildren of Joe Lewis have been behind recent big decisions at Spurs, including the departure of Levy, it is understood that they have no desire to be hands-on in the running of the club.

Confidence: Vinai Venkatesham

There is a confidence that the club's chief executive Vinai Venkatesham is the right man to lead Spurs on a day-to-day basis. He will be responsible for making the final decisions on football and operational matters. Non-executive chairman Peter Charrington will not be at the club full-time but will support Venkatesham.

The restructuring at boardroom level is now complete and the new hierarchy at Spurs will be given time to deliver success, with Venkatesham predicting a calmer period when he sat down for an interview with the club's media team this week.

"They're focused on stability," Venkatesham said of the Lewis family.

"They know there's been lots of change at the club, and now it's time for some calm and for some stability. And finally they believe and trust in the people that we have working in the organisation.

"Their model is all about empowering the people we have on the ground to deliver against the ambition they have and of course the ambition that we all share."
