Tottenham return to Premier League action this weekend with their toughest test of the whole season.

Spurs will travel to Arsenal on Sunday for the first north London derby of the season, looking for a first victory over their biggest rivals in three and a half years.

Since then, Spurs have picked up just one point from six derbies, with the tide firmly have turned back in the Gunners’ favour during the intervening years.

Spurs will now be aiming to avoid losing four consecutive games against Arsenal for the first time since 1989, and look to face the meanest of tasks to do so.

An injury to Pape Matar Sarr during the international break means Spurs head coach Thomas Frank could be without 12 first-team players for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

There is confidence that number will be reduced ahead of the game, with the likes of Mohammed Kudus nearing a return, but Frank could field a full team of absentees.

Frank will hope that suspensions do not worsen his selection headache, with four players currently one or two yellow cards away from a one-match suspension.

Which Tottenham players are close to a suspension?

Most notably, it is Spurs captain Romero who is just one yellow card away from a ban after picking up four yellow cards in his last eight games.

Mohammed Kudus, Spurs’ most impressive attacker, is next in line, along with two others, with three yellow cards.

After Arsenal, Spurs face Fulham at home then travel to Newcastle in early December.
