Tottenham predicted lineup vs Brentford - Premier League

A late show in Coventry offered Ange Postecoglou some respite, but the Tottenham boss desperately needs to oversee a positive result in the Premier League on Saturday as Brentford visit N17.

Given Spurs' current woes, Thomas Frank's Bees are nightmare opposition given their ability to defend deep and compact, as well as their capacity to devastate in transition and dominate from set-pieces.

The Tottenham boss will ring the changes once more having handed rests to an array of key performers on Wednesday, with the hosts requiring a vastly improved showing in possession against their London rivals this weekend.

Here's how Postecoglou could set his Spurs side up for Brentford's visit.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - Fraser Forster got the nod on Wednesday but Vicario will be one of several players to return to the fold this weekend. Brentford will target the Italian from set-pieces.

RB: Pedro Porro - A key figure in this Spurs team, Porro earned some respite in midweek as Archie Gray started at right-back. The Spaniard has to emerge as a creative outlet for Postecoglou's side and could develop a prosperous relationship with Dominic Solanke.

CB: Cristian Romero - The Argentine was singled out for his role in Arsenal's winner last Sunday, but there's no denying just how important he is to Tottenham, especially in the build-up phase.

CB: Micky van de Ven - Brentford have a speed demon in Kevin Schade who will test Van de Ven's recovery pace, that's for sure.

LB: Destiny Udogie - Djed Spence was among the midweek heroes but he's not yet a serious challenger for Udogie's Premier League minutes. Postecoglou does need more from the Italy international, though.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - Yves Bissouma could be welcomed back to the fold on Saturday after missing the previous two games, but the Mali international may only be fit enough for minutes off the bench. Bentancur teed up Brennan Johnson's winner against Coventry.

CM: James Maddison - His output has declined drastically ever since he returned from an ankle injury earlier this year and Maddison has struggled to replicate the form he displayed on Matchday 1 against Leicester since. Still, his ability to pick locks in the final third and facilitate tempo increases renders his inclusion necessary on Saturday.

CM: Dejan Kulusevski - Kulusevski has been Spurs' standout performer this season and they would not have come back from their goal deficit if it wasn't for the Swede's cameo on Wednesday.

RW: Brennan Johnson - The match-winner in the cup is a sure bet to come back into the team after Wilson Odobert sustained a "pretty significant" hamstring injury in the first half against Coventry.

ST: Dominic Solanke - The £65m summer arrival has been shy of service since returning from injury and will have his work cut out against an imposing Brentford backline this weekend.

LW: Son Heung-min - Postecoglou has got to get Son closer to the goal. He has little use stationed on the flank. The South Korean scored twice on his first home outing of the season, but hasn't found the back of the net since.
