Tottenham Hotspur have resumed discussions with Burnley over the potential signing of Maxime Estève (23), according to a report from L’Équipe. The French centre-back was the subject of a €24m bid from the North London club in the final hours of the January transfer window, but the offer was turned down by the Clarets, who reportedly demanded more than €35m at the time.
Estève, under contract until 2029, joined Burnley from Montpellier in January 2024 and was one of the rare bright spots during the club’s relegation campaign. Despite dropping to the Championship, Burnley have insisted on retaining their top assets amid interest from Premier League sides.
With Tottenham preparing for a return to the Champions League, their recruitment team has returned to the negotiating table in an attempt to strike a new deal for the left-footed defender. Estève joined Burnley in January 2024 from Montpellier and featured as a key player in the Clarets campaign to get back to the Premier League last season.GFFN | George Boxall
