Tottenham have a decision to make on Luka Vuskovic, and it may say plenty about their direction. The Croatian centre back has impressed on loan at Hamburg, enough to draw admiring glances from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
Vuskovic has been honest about the pull of Hamburg, where he wants to continue developing and eventually play alongside his brother Mario.
“I’m torn,” he told German publication BILD
“On the one hand, I’m happy because a lot of what was agreed upon with Tottenham has come to fruition in Hamburg. But I’m also sad because I really want to stay here.
“As you know, it’s my wish to play for HSV alongside my brother Mario. But in football, you can’t have everything you want. I’ll be a Tottenham player again starting this summer.”
For Spurs, this is about more than one promising defender. Vuskovic is 19, highly rated and already showing the personality required to handle pressure. Regular football remains central to his development.
“I don’t know, I’m neither an agent nor a club official,” he added.
“But if there’s a chance, I’d like to stay. Time will tell what happens. But of course, if Tottenham has me firmly in their plans, that would be a very good situation for me. The most important thing for my development is that I play regularly.”

Tottenham may wish to integrate Vuskovic into their first team, although their league position adds uncertainty. Spurs are two points above the relegation zone before the final game, a situation that could affect transfer thinking.
“It’s certainly nice that my name is being associated with such clubs.
“I also don’t know if everything that’s written about me and other clubs is true. I’m a Tottenham player. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”
