Spurs welcome Arsenal’s title rivals Manchester City to north London this afternoon looking to translate their European form into domestic improvement. Another impressive performance on the continent in midweek has seen them cruise in the Champions League knockout stage, but their Premier League form remains woeful.

Thomas Frank’s efforts to turn the tide in the top flight have been hampered by injuries, with influential defender Micky van de Ven a doubt for this game after picking up a knock in the draw against Burnley. Spurs should still line up to frustrate City as the under-pressure manager continues with a new 3-4-3 system which produced dividends in midweek.

City know they have dropped too many points in recent weeks, but a statement win against a team they reguarly struggle against would send a message to title favourites Arsenal. You can follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Sam Tabuteau at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spence, Danso, Van de Ven injury updates

“Micky is a minor [injury], I fully expect him to be back to face Manchester United [next weekend],” Frank told SPURSPLAY. “He just couldn’t make it for this one.

“I think it's fair to say that we're hit pretty hard with injuries, but it's part of the game,” Frank told Sky Sports. “We need to find solutions, others need to step up.

“Kevin Danso, another quite unlucky one. He hyperextended his big toe when landing on the foot of an opponent against Frankfurt, and that means a ligament snapped in the big toe.

“He was extremely unlucky. We don’t know the extent of it, we have an appointment next week to clarify that.

“Djed [has] a minor calf injury that will keep him out for this game.”

Cherki is in to replace the injured Doku for Man City. Haaland leads the line.

When Thomas Frank said it, he did so with a smile, but maybe Tottenham really are cursed.

With Djed Spence, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso all absent, that is now 11 senior players out injured for Spurs as they enter a tricky run of fixtures over the next month.

A big game against Manchester City, just got harder.
