Round 26 of the 2025-26 Premier League season sees Tottenham Hotspur welcome Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.

Both teams could really do with a victory here, having won just one of their last 10 league outings combined, leaving the hosts 18th and the visitors 16th in terms of points picked up over the last five gameweeks.

Match preview

Tottenham’s wait for a first domestic victory in 2026 rolls on after their comprehensive 2-0 defeat against Manchester United in Saturday’s meeting at Old Trafford.

Cristian Romero’s first-half red card proved to be the turning point as goals in either half from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes put Thomas Frank’s men to the sword.

As a result, the North Londoners find themselves 14th in the standings, only six points clear of relegation danger.

A 2-2 draw against Manchester City in their last home outing saw Spurs pick up only a 10th point from 12 league matches so far for the division’s fourth-worst record on home turf.

Tuesday’s hosts are without a Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since early December, and their recent record against Newcastle does not make for good reading, with no wins in six clashes, following a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture.

After winning their first three matches in 2026, Newcastle have since won just one of the subsequent eight and were beaten for a third game running in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Brentford.

Bruno Guimaraes’s penalty 11 minutes from time looked to have earned Eddie Howe’s men a point before Dango Ouattara netted an 85th-minute winner.

That saw the Magpies drop to 12th in the league table, and with 11 points now separating them from fourth place, Champions League football now seems an unlikely prospect.

Still awaiting a first victory in London this season, Newcastle will head to the capital in search of what would be just their third away league win of the season.

Only Leeds United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers have picked up fewer points on the road than Tuesday’s visitors, who are winless in four away outings this year, most recently a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Team news

No team has been riddled with more injuries this season than Tottenham, who are currently missing Rodrigo Bentacur, Richarlison and Pedro Porro due to hamstring problems.

Long-term absentee James Maddison is not expected back in action anytime soon as he continues his recovery from a damaged anterior cruciate ligament, while Lucas Bergvall and Ben Davies are nursing ankle injuries.

Mohammed Kudus (thigh), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Djed Spence (calf) and Kevin Danso (toe) are also unavailable for the hosts.

Emil Krafth, Lewis Miley and Valentino Livramento are all unavailable through injury, leaving Newcastle down to bare bones at the right-back position.

Anthony Gordon (hamstring), Joelinton (groin) and Fabian Schar (ankle) all missed the defeat to Brentford and are not expected back in time for Tuesday’s affair.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Souza, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Gray; Sarr, Palhinha, Gallagher; Simons, Solanke, Odobert

Newcastle United Predicted XI (4-3-3): Pope; Hall, Botman, Thiaw, Trippier; Tonali, Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Woltemade, Barnes

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Newcastle United
