After several months of rumors and negotiations, details are beginning to emerge regarding Francesco Totti’s new role at Roma.
Because, after the constant signals over the past few weeks, it now seems certain: the former Giallorossi number 10 is ready to return to Trigoria in the centenary year.
The role designated by the Friedkins for the former captain is that of Centenary Ambassador, and there are no other options on the table.
Discussions are ongoing and are being conducted directly between the parties involved, without third parties.
The agreement hasn’t been signed yet, but without unforeseen obstacles, it’s only a matter of time.
If the deal were to be successful, Totti would sign an agreement with the Friedkins, according to Il Corriere della Sera, and not with Roma.
It would be a contract similar to the one tying Claudio Ranieri to the Texans, who effectively holds an important role at the Roman club.
Going this route would not burden the club’s finances, and the former captain would not be pigeonholed into a management role.
In fact, it cannot be ruled out that Totti could still have an authoritative voice on Roma matters, and his role could then become an officially operational one in the future.
