The Manchester United squad have reportedly taken very well to new signing Diego Leon, who is deemed one of the most popular figures in the dressing room.

United officially announced Leon’s arrival last month from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno.

A deal with Cerro Porteno for Leon’s Old Trafford switch was actually struck in January, but it was decided that he would remain with them for an additional six months and then join United in the summer.

The Red Devils forked out £3.3m for Leon but this sum could rise to £7m with add-ons.

So far, the word from inside United regarding Leon has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s believed he has settled seamlessly into first-team training and is showing exactly the talent the club expected.

The 18-year-old was included in Ruben Amorim’s travelling squad for the US pre-season tour and was given a taste of the action.

United considered sending Leon out on loan, but it’s understood those plans have since been shelved. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person highlighted clear clues suggesting the defender will be a member of the first-team squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Now, an update provided by the Daily Mail has revealed how the dressing room has received the talented Leon.

According to the Daily Mail, Leon is “the most popular player currently.”

The newspaper notes that a number of the more experienced players have become “fiercely protective” of the Yguazú-born starlet.

Spanish-speaking stars are “going out of their way” to translate for Leon and help him settle into his new surroundings.

An insider told the Daily Mail, “He’s like a little brother to a lot of these guys. They are giving him a bit of stick, having a laugh, but they are fiercely protective over him and are really looking after him.”

United are back in action on Sunday when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford for their Premier League opener.
