Tottenham Hotspur have stolen a march on Arsenal to agree personal terms with Sandro Tonali

The Lilywhites have agreed a long-term contract with the 26-year-old.

The deal reportedly includes a huge sign-on bonus and a substantial increase to his current wages.

However, Tottenham still have to agree a fee with Newcastle, who will only sanction a summer exit if they receive offers over £100 million

With Tonali contracted until 2029, the Tyneside club hold significant leverage in negotiations.

It is unclear whether Spurs are prepared to fork out such an eye-watering sum for the Italian.

Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market, having already completed the signings of Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

Tonali has emerged as one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Premier League after his impressive displays for Newcastle.

He has made 110 appearances across all competitions, bagging 10 goals and 10 assists.

Tonali played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s 2024/25 League Cup win, ending their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.

His performances have put him on the radar of several top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

However, it appears he has his heart set on joining Tottenham despite the club narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship last season.
