Trouble because of his much-discussed Real Madrid statement? At FC Bayern, there are few signs of this at the moment. On the contrary: the Munich club apparently want to tie Lennart Karl down for the long term – and also offer him a much better financial deal
According to Sport BILD, the talented attacking player is set to take the next step in his career in just a few weeks‘ time. As soon as Karl turns 18 next month, his current contract will automatically convert into a professional contract that runs until 2029. But Bayern bosses do not want to stop there. Internally, the record champions are already working on a further extension until 2031 – including a substantial salary increase
In concrete terms, Karl’s annual salary would rise from the current figure of around one to two million euros to around five to seven million euros. The Munich club not only want to reward the youngster for his sporting development, but also send a clear signal: Karl is set to become the face of FC Bayern in the long term
This move is also interesting in light of the recent discussions surrounding Karl’s open statement about Real Madrid. During the fan club visit, the 17-year-old had said: „FC Bayern is a very big club. It’s a dream to play there. But I definitely want to go to Real Madrid one day. That’s my dream club – but we’ll keep that between us.“ The reactions in the fan scene were sometimes fierce
However, the issue was quickly cleared up within the club. Sporting director Christoph Freund made it clear after the test match in Salzburg: „I think that’s Lenny. Anyone who knows Lenny knows that. He wears his heart on his sleeve.“ The Austrian also explained that Karl immediately realized the implications of his words: „Of course, he was immediately aware that it was unfortunate. He apologized the next day, we talked about it. He came straight to us and said: I didn’t mean it like that.“

Sporting director Max Eberl also defended the youngster: „A 17-year-old is allowed to make mistakes. For us, the matter is off the table. The decisive factor is that he shows his performance on the pitch,“ said Eberl
Karl did that impressively on Tuesday, scoring two goals and setting up another in the test match against Salzburg after coming on as a half-time substitute.
