As reported by Florian Plettenberg, TSG Hoffenheim have secured the signing of 17-year-old Nathan De Cat for a whopping €17m.
The defensive midfielder is joining from Belgian side Anderlecht, where he came through the academy before making 29 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League last season.
De Cat’s impressive appearances for Anderlecht also earned him his first senior cap for Belgium last March in a 5-2 victory over the United States.
A number of top European clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig, have all been monitoring the midfielder. However, Hoffenheim, a club known for developing young players before selling them for profit, appear to have won the race.
The 17-year-old also featured in one Europa League match last season as well as four Conference League qualifiers. With Hoffenheim competing in the Europa League this season, expect the teenager to play a part in a campaign that TSG hopes will be a successful one.
De Cat will complete his medical very soon and sign a long-term contract until 2031.
