The 22-year-old faces strong competition from Morgan Rogers, who played in all eight games, for England's number ten role this summer and Tuchel has admitted he remains unsure on who will get the nod.

Rogers has earned Tuchel's trust in recent months. The 23-year-old has also shone at club level, scoring 14 times and creating 11 more as Aston Villa secured Champions League qualification and won the Europa League.

Bellingham captained England for the first time during the second half of Saturday's 1-0 win over New Zealand. He showed flashes of quality, after a season in Spain that saw him score eight times in 40 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his status as one of England's most high-profile players, Tuchel has insisted there are no guarantees ofWorld Cup minutes.

Questioned about his selection headache, Tuchel was asked whether Bellingham has a fight on his hands to be in the starting side.

"Yes, he has. He is one of the starters, he knows he is one of the starters, but we have 14 or 15 potential starters. These roles can always change, but at the moment I think there are like 14 or 15 proper starters and Jude is one of them.

"He [Jude] looks good. He looks good in training. I think he is at the moment in a sweet spot because he has had his break and he has the hunger to be back on the pitch and after injury - this is normal. And he is so happy to be back on the pitch. You take everything in."
