England were flying high after their thrilling 4-2 success against Croatia in their opening World Cup match.
But they were brought back down to earth by Ghana, who held them to a frustrating goalless draw on Tuesday at the Boston Stadium.
The Three Lions now face a crucial group game against Panama on Saturday, needing a point to secure their place in the knockout stage.
While manager Thomas Tuchel will be tempted to select his best team, he should drop Declan Rice to avoid risking his absence for the round of 32.
The Arsenal midfielder received a yellow card for a reckless challenge on Ghana defender Jerome Opoku.
Players will be suspended for one game if they receive two yellow cards during the group stage.
Featuring the Arsenal star against Panama would risk his availability for England’s first knockout match.
Tuchel has Kobbie Mainoo and Jordan Henderson at his disposal, but neither can match Rice for his relentless work rate and defensive awareness.
However, Mainoo undoubtedly offers more creativity.
Panama are out of the World Cup after losing their opening two matches against Ghana and Croatia.
England shouldn’t have much trouble beating them on Saturday.
