Igor Tudor praises ‘rare talent’ Jonathan David and admits he would gladly keep Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus, but ‘the directors make the final decision.’
The Bianconeri struggled to break down Parma in their opening match of the Serie A season and needed a desperate block from Gleison Bremer to stop Mateo Pellegrino from scoring.
However, debutant Jonathan David eventually turned in the Kenan Yildiz assist, with substitute Dusan Vlahovic securing a 2-0 result on another pass from the Turkish talent.

“I saw many positive things this evening in a very difficult match, though we weren’t expecting Parma to be so closed up,” Tudor told DAZN Italia.
“I told the lads at half-time to keep this up, we’d score sooner or later, the important thing was not to concede. It was important to start strong, as we saw with other results that it is not to be taken for granted that you’ll win at home against a team that might not be on the same level.”
Parma were making their Serie A debut under new coach Carlos Cuesta, formerly an assistant manager to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, although the approach was quite different.
“Everyone who came off the bench had the right attitude. These first games are never easy, there are many unknown quantities. Parma were quite old-fashioned in their tactics, almost Catenaccio defending,” continued Tudor.
“We allowed them very little, but Bremer managed to prevent the goal with that block, and then we managed to take the lead. David has great movement in the penalty area, which is a rare talent, and is always concentrated.”

Vlahovic is on the way out of Juventus, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but he still stepped up when needed and scored that important second goal coming off the bench.
“He is concentrated. He is a Juve player and does what he needs to do. He worked well in every training session, we’ll see what happens in this last week of the transfer market. We talk and will see.”

Milan seem to be the favourites now to sign Vlahovic, but could Juventus keep him for a few more months and risk losing him for free?
“As I said, Dusan is focused and he scored a quality goal this evening. If you ask me what will happen, I just don’t know. I have my thoughts and explain them, but the directors make the final decision,” replied Tudor.
A negative from the evening for Tudor was seeing Andrea Cambiaso sent off for a reaction foul on Mathias Lovik.
That means he will be suspended for at least the Week 2 fixture against Genoa, but potentially the one against Inter after that too.
