Directly from Washington, where Juventus will make their debut in the FIFA Club World Cup against Al Ain on June 18 at 21:00 LT (03:00 CEST on June 19), Coach Igor Tudor previewed, in a press conference, the challenge that awaits the Bianconeri.
CLEAR IDEAS
"Finally we get to start! It will be a beautiful competition, much anticipated. It is the first Club World Cup, there is a great desire to start and there is great enthusiasm in the team. We have worked well and we want to do well, that is for sure. We did not come here to participate. When Juve participates, it does so to win. We have respect for everyone, these are the best teams in the world, so it will not be easy, but there is only one way to take on the challenges that await in this tournament: thinking game by game. Then we will see how it goes.
THE OPPONENTS
"We trained earlier to get used to the time of the matches. The heat? It's summer, the rules are the same for everyone. We must focus only on our performance and the tasks to complete to achieve our goals. I believe that the team has already adapted to the climate and the time zone. We are ready. I know all the teams, we have analysed them. Some come from lesser-known leagues, but we must respect everyone. We must focus on ourselves. We will decide our own destiny.
TEAM NEWS
"Manuel Locatelli trained with us, his ankle is still bothering him a bit, while Teun Koopmeiners is fine, I would say he is almost recovered. He, like Federico Gatti, are training well with the team, and it is a good sign to have two players with such personality on their way back. Fede is slightly behind Koop, but they are well on their way. Will they be starters? I'm not sure, but they are doing better and will be with us. Daniele Rugani will give us a big hand, he is a valuable player, he trains well, he has experience and knows this club. I am happy he is here. For Gleison Bremer, on the other hand, it will be difficult to see him back on the pitch here, but yesterday he underwent an important training session, he put in more effort, and was able to tackle. It's an important step, now we have to continue without risking anything. It's really nice to see him there with us.
JUVE IS HOME
"I'm happy to coach Juve, I feel at home here. I'm fully focused on doing my job in the best possible way. After signing the renewal of my contract I was very happy, but the happiness lasted a moment; a second later I was already thinking about what to do to win the next match. You should never give up, you should never settle, neither in a match nor in training. It's my way of living sport and life and I try to transmit this to my players."
