Looking at the biggest talking points from Southampton's 3-0 win on the weekend.
Ivan Juric finally took his first win as Southampton manager. Defeating Swansea wasn't a big challenge but the important thing is that the Saints claimed a comfortable 3-0 win.
Overall, it was a good all round performance from Southampton. Now, let's see what this victory means for the players and the remaining season ahead.
Below, are the two answers we got from the FA Cup third round win. Later, we will see the two questions that have emerged from this game.
Two Answers
Will Armel Bella-Kotchap get any minutes against Swansea?
In the press conference before the match, Ivan Juric hinted that he could play Bella-Kotchap in the defence. Given a Championship opposition, it felt that the 23-year-old may even start the game.
But it didn't happen in the end. Furthermore, Bella-Kotchap wasn't even named on the Southampton bench.
How many squad rotations will Ivan Juric make?
FA Cup matches are a good way to rest key players and manage their workload. Thus, it comes as an opportunity for a manager to rotate and give chances to other players.
Few changes were expected in the defence but Juric played down the idea pre-match. Still, James Bree and Kamaldeen Sulemana were started and they both played well.
Two Questions
Was this game the perfect breakthrough for Sulemana?
Kamaldeen Sulemana was Southampton's biggest positive from the match. Not only did he score, he also gave an assist on Tyler Dibling's goal to double the lead.
The Ghanaian attacker has struggled to become a starter for Southampton in the last two years. A January exit looked almost certain but that may be off, for now.
Time will tell whether this is the kind of breakthrough Sulemana ultimately needed.
Should Tyler Dibling play as a striker?
Tyler Dibling's steady rise in the Southampton lineup has been impressive. There is no denying that he is one of the most promising players in the Premier League.
But scoring goals and giving assists have been lacking from his game. Playing as a striker could be the solution, though.
Dibling scored a brace yesterday and his chemistry with Sulemana up front was brilliant. Thus, Juric should try Dibling as a striker more often.
